WHO WE ARE
Dun Laoghaire Men’s Shed was established in January 2015.We are working towards a future where all men in the local area have the opportunity to improve and maintain their health and well-being by participating in a community-based Men’s Shed.
Our membership has grown to 32 but we have also been actively supportive of getting other Men’s Sheds started in the Borough. Those who have benefited in addition to members are various individuals and groups who have dropped in for a chat and social company after personal difficulties such as bereavement of a spouse.
Since 2015 we have completely restored a derelict Coach House where we now carry out wood turning, woodwork, water colour painting, horticulture and other project work every day Monday through Friday. Some visits to other Sheds have been an enjoyable day out for members.
Some members are now Garda vetted to participate in support activities for St Joseph’s Dementia Care Centre in Shankill where we carry out projects for the Centre. Various individuals from other care agencies are becoming more independent as a result of participating weekly. For some it is the highlight of their week.
