Making Connections: connecting the generations

Making Connections is a registered befriending charity -CHY 21301- aiming to alleviate loneliness and isolation among older people by providing meaningful social engagement. The model focuses on shared interests with benefits for both the older person and volunteer.

The charity organises regular intergenerational events. The most recent one took place on June 3rd for a most uplifting show “Spoonful of Sherman” in Pavilion Theatre. This initiative is aimed at facilitating older people who have an interest in the Arts and who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend cultural events for reasons of health or isolation. The show was attended by 17 people from Making Connections including volunteers and participants.

dlr Cultural Connections is managed by Making Connections, funded by the DLR CoCo/ HSE Arts & Health Partnership with the support of Pavilion Theatre
