WHO WE ARE
The Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Equality incorporating Smashing Times Theatre and Film Company and Smashing Times Youth Arts Ensemble is dedicated to the promotion, study and practice of the arts, human rights, climate justice and gender equality. The Centre operates as a virtual arts space, a resource service, a networking agency and digital hub, using creativity, research and new digital technologies to promote the arts, human rights, climate justice and gender equality for all.
Since 1991, Smashing times have developed cutting edge projects that promote peace, gender equality, human rights, positive mental health, anti-racism, and more through high quality artistic processes, merging art, culture and politics to interact and engage with contemporary society and the world we live in. The company was established by a group of women actors who met at the Focus Theatre Dublin. Today the work takes place at local, national, and international levels in a range of settings – on screen, on stage from the professional arts and theatre space to local schools and communities where we are invited to work with people collaboratively, and at European and international levels.
Smashing Times promote inclusion through creative processes which are accessible to all. The company uses a range of art forms to engage with a variety of communities, giving equal access to a creative arts practice linked to equality and social engagement. The company engages in active outreach work, builds partnerships, and uses collaborative ways of working with communities.
