The Dublin Mountains are a popular destination for many who want to escape from the busy urban life that has now reached their foothills. Whether hiking, mountain biking, birdwatching or just taking a stroll through the woods, the uplands are busier than they have ever been. The Dublin Mountain Community Archaeology Project aims to increase awareness among those who visit, live in and work in the mountains of the region’s rich archaeological heritage.

This training workshop for the Public Participation Networks will consist of a talk introducing the wide range of monuments and artefacts found in the Dublin Mountains, how to identify them, the risks they face and how we should treat them. This will be followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions. Participants will also be given information on resources about the archaeology of the Dublin Mountains and on organisations and institutions involved in its care.
