Nominations for DLR PPN Representatives 2024
DLR PPN is currently seeking nominations for DLR PPN Representatives on the new Strategic Policy Committees 2024-2029. The details of this scheme will be published by DLR County Council in December when the minutes of their November have been approved. The details of the DLR SPC Scheme 2019-2024 can be found here. For our member groups who are interested in putting forward a nomination we have gathered all the information on the SPC’s here to assist you.
- The first section of this page contains information on the 7 new Strategic Policy Committees, including their Areas of Responsibility, the number of representatives required from each Pillar and the areas of expertise/experience sought.
- The second section provides details information on the Role of the Representative and details of the commitment, such as time and reporting, it also details the supports available.
Nominations
- The number of nominations each group can make is limited.
- Nomination links and (on request) hard copy forms will be sent to the Primary Contact of each member group.
- Before making a nomination it is important to know which Pillar your group is registered under as you can only nominate for your registered pillar positions. You can check your Pillar in the Members Directory here.
- DLR PPN full member groups can make nominations until the 9th of December, at 9.00am.
- Elections will be run from the 16th of December until the 5th of January.

Section 2 – Information on being a DLR PPN Representative
The role of DLR PPN Representatives is to;
- Keep DLR PPN members informed about the work of the SPC,
- Seek DLR PPN member’s input into the work of the SPC and
- Represent the viewpoints of DLR PPN members to the SPC
- Read and inform themselves prior to SPC meeting
- Liaise with other DLR PPN representative and collaborate to further the views of the DLR PPN membership
- Get involved and put forward strategic questions in relation to policy.
They do not represent themselves rather they represent the various views of all the DLR PPN Membership.
An SPC has no responsibility for routine operational matters such as the delivery of services.
- 4 committee meetings per year, 1 per quarter, usually 5pm-7pm on weekdays.
- Preparation time to read documentation and reports for the committee meeting.
- Writing up a summary report for DLR PPN members after the meeting (responsibility shared with other DLR PPN representatives on the committee)
- Linking in with DLR PPN members to feedback and discuss relevant matters – 1 meeting per quarter.
- Time to put together any policy positions, questions or submissions to the SPC.
- One-off induction training from DLR County Council.
- One-off induction training from DLR PPN.
- Up to 2 DLR PPN representatives meetings a year.
- Travel expenses covered.
DLR PPN Representatives with an induction to the Committee or Group clearly outlining the Terms of Reference for the Committee, Committee Standing Orders, how to have issues put on the agenda etc.
Representatives Network Meetings – These are opportunities to meet with and discuss strategy and experiences with fellow Representatives
DLR PPN Representatives Buddy System – Secretariat members are willing to offer assistance and provide insight based on their experiences and act as a point of contact for the representatives.
DLR PPN Network Manger – will assist in
- providing Representatives induction training
- circulating Representatives reports and seeking feedback from our members
- organising Representatives Network Meetings
- organising opportunities to seek and provide feedback to/from DLR PPN Members via Member Network Meetings and Linkage Group meetings

Nominee Declaration Questions
- The nominee has read the information about Strategic Policy Committees and understands their remit and purpose. This can be found here.
- The nominee has read the Draft DLR PPN Representative’s Charter, understands the requirements of the role and agrees to represent the PPN Membership in accordance with the Charter. This can be found here.
- The nominee confirms that they understand that they must seek the views of DLR PPN member groups and that they must represent all the membership groups not just their own group or personal views.
- If elected to be a DLR PPN Representative I undertake to attend the SPC meetings and provide a brief written report from each committee meeting I attend on the DLR PPN’s behalf. The report should provide a brief synopsis of any discussions at the meeting and the resulting decision using the PPN Reporting Template.
- If elected I am aware that the commitment is to represent DLR PPN on the SPC and to attend DLR PPN Network and DLR PPN Representatives Meetings.
- The nominee agrees to undertake training provided by the local authority and/or the PPN to support them in their role
