Target Audience

This session is for anyone who would like to participate more in public consultations, but is not sure where to start. This is for a person who has never made a submission and for those who feel that their submissions are going nowhere.

Outline

How do we write clear, comprehensible submissions for public consultations? How do we say what we mean, clearly and with evidence to back up our story? How do we take our passion and turn it into coherent sentences which public bodies can understand?

Outcomes

Participants should leave with an understanding of

• The challenges and opportunities in working on public submissions
• Common mistakes
• The differences between fact and opinion
• Evidence based research
• How to fill in the forms
• Getting it in on time
• Asking for help
• Clear communication – Language and wording
• How to plan your submission calendar
• If at first you don’t succeed…
