The Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Plant is under construction near Bridgwater, Somerset, UK. Under the terms of EU Directive 2011/92/EU on the assessment of the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment (the EIA Directive) and the 1991 United Nations Convention on environmental impact in a transboundary context (the Espoo Convention), Member States (ie the United Kingdom) are required to engage in transboundary public consultation in respect of projects likely to have significant effects on the environment of neighbouring States as part of the environmental impact assessment of a proposed development.
Members of the public will be able to view, in the head office of their local planning authority, printed copies of the documents identified by the UK’s DBEIS as being relevant for the public consultation.
Submissions or observations are to be made directly to the planning authority for the area in which the member of the public lives. The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government will not be accepting submissions or observations.
