Report shows that Regulator’s work is increasing transparency and accountability in sector The Charities Regulatory Authority (the ‘Charities Regulator’) is an independent statutory body which was established on 16 October 2014 pursuant to the Charities Act 2009.
The key functions of the Regulator are to establish and maintain a public register of charitable organisations operating in Ireland, the first formal record of charities in the history of the State, and to ensure their compliance with the Charities Acts.
Minister O’Brien said :
“Charities and voluntary and community organisations play a very important role in every community across the country with 10,500 charities on the Authority’s Register of Charities at the end of 2019.”
