Census 2027 Public Consultation

Closing date extended to 12 noon on Friday, 20 January 2023

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) would like to advise the public that, as part of the preparatory work for Census 2027, a public consultation on the content of the census form will open today Wednesday 30 November and will close at  12 noon on Friday, 20 January 2023 

For the first time, an online response option is being planned alongside the paper-based option in Census 2027.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) is inviting members of the public, interest groups and organisations to make submissions on the topics to be covered and on the resulting outputs.

For reference, the 2022 census form is available here.

When making a submission, provide your detailed reason(s) and suggested wording for your proposed new/changed question(s), and a summary (where relevant) of the corresponding analyses required. Please do so for each proposed new/changed question.

You may wish to focus your submission with reference to the following broad categories:

• Housing and housing characteristics

• Population characteristics including migration

• Diversity and equality (including citizenship, ethnic group/background, other languages)
• The Irish language

• Disability, health, carers

• Transport

• Education

• Economic factors

• Other
