Operation Irene is a targeted multi-agency operation to combat underage alcohol consumption and consumption of alcohol in public places throughout the Dublin Metropolitan Region and for us specifically in the Dun Laoghaire borough, through the enforcement of legislation regulating the sale, supply and consumption of alcohol as well as relevant public order legislation.
Members of the Garda Public Order unit will be out in force during patches of fine weather to crack down on problem drinking.
Under Operation Irene, which was trialled last year, gardaí will be dispatched to areas which have seen anti-social behaviour during warm weather.
The launch of Operation Irene will be held on Tuesday 29th May at 3pm at the Assembly Hall, Town Hall, Marine Road, Dun Laoghaire and will be an opportunity to contribute ideas around this topic.
