Summary of DLR PPN Plenary Meeting 25th April 2018

DLR PPN held its first members Plenary meeting of 2018 on Wednesday April 25th in Glenalby Sports Club in Stillorgan. 77 people attended, an increase from the October 2017 meeting, which was attended by 51 people. Agenda

 

Community Supports Showcase

A Community Supports Showcase was held before the meeting, with information stands from VOICE Ireland, DLR Sports Partnership, DLRCC Community & Cultural Development Department, DLR Healthy Ireland, Suicide or Survive and Crann-Trees for Ireland.

 

DLR PPN Member’s Presentation

Christine and Kevin Cosgrave gave a presentation about Dundrum Arts and Cultural Festival, a volunteer-run festival which is celebrating 35 years this year.

 

DLR PPN Annual report

Secretariat member Aileen Eglington gave an overview of the DLRPPN 2017 Annual Report which was distributed to members. She also spoke about events from this year, including reporting, the development of the 2018 workplan, the Dublin Environmental Gathering, new DLR PPN representatives on the Social Housing SPC and the Local Community Development Committee and  General Data Protection Regulation training for members.

The 2018 Workplan  was ratified by all present.

 

Motions

Two Motions from DLR PPN members were presented:

Motion 1: Proposed by the Parents, Family & Friends Association of St. John of God Carmona Services

“That the PPN ask DLRCoCo to provide a Community Hub Building within which Charities and Community Organisations would have access to office and meeting facilities, with shared services. Such a centre would be the “go to” place to inspire, nurture and guide organisations with a social purpose to maximize the positive impact they have on society.” See full text of Motion 1

Motion 2: Proposed by Monkstown Village Tidy District, Watson Killiney Residents Association, Otter Swimming Club

“That the DLRPPN will actively support community-based initiatives to alleviate loneliness and isolation and build a sense of purpose for people aged 80+ in the community.” See full text of Motion 2

Following comments from members and discussion both Motions were passed.

 

Secretariat Elections

An election was held for Secretariat members for the term 2018 to 2020. Voting took place for Secretariat members from the Social Inclusion pillar and the Community & Voluntary pillar. Due to the low number of candidates for the Environmental pillar candidates were automatically appointed without a vote.

Tom Kivlehan, who has been on the PPN Secretariat since its beginning, and has now stepped down, wished all in the new Secretariat a successful term.
