The event this year will run from the 26th September to 4th October as part of the European Week of Sport and you can complete it at a time and place that suits you within those dates. Go to your local DLR park and run, walk, roll your way through 5 km and send a picture or video when you have finished.
The dlr Community 5K is organised by dlr Sports Partnership and a range of local agencies and including dlr County Council. They are delighted to once again have our local Core Credit Union and the HSE as event sponsors.
Registration for the event is online through https://dlrcommunity5k2020.eventbrite.ie and there is no registration fee, however if you would like to make a donation to a local charity of your choice that would be very much appreciated.
Special event T shirts will be posted out to the first 100 people to register and there will be medals posted out to everyone who emails us their times and a fun finishing photo / video.
Shane McArdle, Coordinator with dlr Sports Partnership, commented “We’ve had to re-design the event this year due to COVID-19 restrictions but we are hoping that everyone can have a fun and healthy walk, run or roll around their local DLR park or area. We aim to support people in remaining active throughout the COVID-19 restrictions and we hope this event will provide a goal for people and families to get out and get active. This event has a particular focus on attracting participants of all abilities and this year is no different. Physical activity and sport is for all.”
